July 4th is a special day when it comes to celebrating our freedom here in the United States. It typically includes gathering with friends and family, attending events or festivals, and watching grand firework displays. We know that this year's July 4th will definitely look different than previous years due to the current pandemic. However, there are still some ways that you can have fun and enjoy the day while remaining safe.
Even though you won't be able to gather in large groups, you can still enjoy the presence of close family members or friends while social distancing. We recommend getting the grill going, playing some games, and eating your favorite goods. Plus, you can even get some small sparklers or fireworks going! If you are planning on having fun this July 4th weekend, remember the following safety tips:
Planning on driving somewhere during the weekend? Don't forget to practice driving safely. Please don't drive if you are planning on consuming alcohol to ensure your safety and the safety of others on the road. Ride-share apps are always great options as well as taxis and designated drivers.
If you are gathering with family or friends in a public area or outside your household, don't forget to wear a mask and do your part to prevent the spread of COVID-19. This includes practicing social distancing, washing your hands, and using hand sanitizer.
Only light legal fireworks or sparklers at home. If you have legal fireworks to light, use caution. Avoid lighting them around other people, other homes, or flammable items. Only light them is safe places and use caution around fire.
The fourth of July typically falls on a hot day, so be sure to remember summer safety. Stay hydrated at all times and bring extra water with you wherever you go.
If you're planning on grilling, remember grilling and fire safety. Don't let small children around hot grills and take caution when starting up the grill.
Protect yourself from the sun if you'll be outside all day. Be sure to use sunscreen on your skin and wear appropriate clothing, hats, and sunglasses.
We hope that these safety tips will allow you to have an amazing July 4th holiday. We wish you the best, and happy Independence Day!
