The truth is that most vehicle owners take their cars for granted. Most of us use our vehicles day in and day out, but when it comes time to get it serviced, we try to push it off. To ensure your car continues to serve you well, why not give your sweet lift some love for the holiday. Below are some ways that you can show appreciation for your car this Valentine's Day:
Wash and clean your car
Just because it's winter doesn't mean you can avoid getting your car washed. If it's been a while since your last car wash, we recommend having it detailed. Getting the inside clean is just as important as the outside.
Monitor your tire pressure
Your tire pressure expands and contracts seasonally, so it would be wise to check them and adjust your psi accordingly. The recommended pressure is usually listed in the doorjamb on the driver's side or in the vehicle's manual. Underinflated and overinflated tires can result in uneven tire wear and even impact your mileage.
Change your oil and filter
An oil and filter change can eliminate all the stress your engine has endured. After the many miles you've driven, your engine oil will get dirty and become less effective at lubricating the engine parts. It's never a bad idea to get an oil change.
Check your fluid levels
Besides engine oil, your vehicle has many other fluids that it relies upon: transmission, brake, power steering, windshield wiper, etc. It's the perfect time to make sure your car gets the replenishment it may need.
Test your battery
Last but not least, it would be wise to test your battery to see if it is getting a sufficient charge. Additionally, you should examine the physical aspects of the battery. Your battery connections should be tucked away and free of corrosion. We typically recommend a battery replacement every 3 years (give or take).
