Best Local Road Trips Out Of Denver

Best Local Road Trips Out Of Denver

August is a great time for a road trip out of Denver. While there’s plenty of fabulous activities right here in town, it can be nice to hit the road and see what else this fabulous state has to offer. This can be a pretty hot time of the year, so make sure your air conditioner is working well and that you have all the accouterments you need to keep your cell phone and GPS going strong.  If you're looking to stay semi-close, consider heading down to Colorado Springs for a day or two. The Garden of the Gods is spectacular and wonderful for hiking or simply sitting in awe. Pikes Peak is waiting for your sturdy hiking boots, but make sure you hydrate like crazy and watch for signs of altitude sickness. Nothing spoils a road trip like a trip to the ER. Cheyenne Mountain Zoo might surprise you with all the animals it has to offer. There’s so much more to do and see in Colorado Springs, but this should get you started here. Head on up to Fort Collins for a brewery tour ... read more

Why Preventative Maintenance Matters

Why Preventative Maintenance Matters

Preventive maintenance:  We call it “Keeping your old car NEW!” It is so easy to neglect the auto care needs of our vehicles because we tend to take their performance for granted. Every day you go out to your car and it starts. Every day after work you slide in behind the wheel and it starts. It gets you to work on time, to the grocery store, to your favorite concert, to your mom’s house for Easter. See what I mean? It’s easy to assume that your car will just keep running. While that’s a lovely dream, it’s definitely not based in reality. In fact, when we neglect our vehicles, they can leave us stranded on the side of the road and very, very late for that all-too-important meeting. Oh no! Thank goodness for the auto repair team at Pro Auto Care in Denver and Littleton. They absolutely know the value of preventative maintenance. They also know that when done in a timely and regular manner, not only can it keep you from gettin ... read more

Top 5 Vintage Cars

Top 5 Vintage Cars

Who doesn’t love an awesome vintage car? Well, maybe not your 10-year-old who happens to be impressed by the latest Lamborghini Aventador SVJ Coupe, but certainly most of the rest of the world loves a beautifully maintained and restored classic. The 1966 Shelby Cobra cannot be ignored. While this collector car might cost you hundreds of thousands of dollars, at least it won’t run you in the millions that many other vintage models would. The horsepower on this baby is phenomenally fun and will keep you zipping down the roads of Denver and Littleton to the envy of all who pass you by. Although, you may want to keep it off the roads until all the snow, rain, and ice have passed US by! While it’s true you can find one of these babies for under $5,000, remember the old adage, “You get what you pay for.” Even if you do buy one on the cheap, putting in a few thousand more to get it running in top condition will only make the investment more worthwhile. This is by ... read more

Winter Is Here! Make Sure Your Tires Are Ready

Winter Is Here! Make Sure Your Tires Are Ready

This winter has the potential to be a nasty one and the entire team at Pro Auto Care in Denver and Littleton don’t want you to end up like the person in the photo… unless you are out on a beautiful snowy sunrise walk by choice! There’s a lot you can do to avoid getting stranded and plenty to help keep you safe and warm if you do. We’ll vote for the former, however. Ways to keep you safely moving down the roads of Denver, Littleton, and well beyond: Tires: make sure they are in the best condition possible, properly inflated, and have chains at the ready just in case. When your tires aren’t properly inflated, they don’t hug the road they way they should. And if the tread is too low or gone, then not only do they not stick to the road, they don’t direct excess water, snow, or ice away from the tire causing you to lose control. If you do lose control, don’t hit the brakes but take your foot off the gas and downshift. Don’t panic. St ... read more

How Does Heat Affect Our Vehicle

How Does Heat Affect Our Vehicle

Colorado is a semi-arid to very arid state. It’s a fact we often don’t pay too much attention to other than when our skin is begging for lotion, or our lips are in desperate need of some Burt’s Bees. We certainly rarely think of how it affects our vehicles unless we are faced with the problems it’s caused. Did you know that the heat we experience in summer can cause all kinds of damage to our automobiles? From increased wear on our tires to generally drying out all sorts of parts we rarely consider, the dry heat we experience in Denver takes its toll on us and our cars. The rubber in our tires can dry out and crack if not properly inflated. Watch all of your fluids as they tend to go faster in the hotter months. Your battery needs more water to keep it fresh during these hot months. Gas evaporates quicker in the heat too. Keep it in the shade as much as you are able. Keep up with your oil changes over the summer also since the heat acts differently on your oil d ... read more

The Effect of a Bad Alignment

The Effect of a Bad Alignment

We often tend to put tire care down on the list of our auto repair needs. It’s easy to dismiss because they tend to be an expensive item to replace and we often take their duties for granted. However, with the right care and prevention, you can significantly impact the life of your tires as well as increase your gas mileage and help to stabilize your vehicle in general. When your vehicle’s tires are properly aligned and balanced, that really can save you money and hassle in the long run, not to mention it can keep you safe.  Alignment refers to the angle at which your tires touch the ground. When your tires aren’t properly aligned, that means that there will be more pressure on certain parts of your tire and that will contribute to uneven wear causing the need for a replacement to happen sooner than if you keep your car properly aligned. When your tires aren’t correctly aligned and your tires wear unevenly, it can lower MPG but it can also b ... read more

How To Protect Your Paint From The Heat

When you’ve got yourself a sweet ride, you want to make sure it looks the very best, so you invest in the right products to take care of it. Read on for tips on how to protect your paint job in the summer heat.  Bathing Beauty: It may seem counterintuitive, but it is a good idea to wash your car frequently. This is a great way to cool off if you want to do it on your driveway. Wait until the evening shadows grow long and whip out that hose while the kids play on their bikes.
